These policies and procedures have been developed by Darlington Borough Council and Darlington for Culture to reflect legislation, good practice and safeguarding. They will make it clear what is expected of Darlington Culture Volunteers and what the volunteers can expect of the volunteer organisation. The policies included are:

Web Access Policy
Darlington Hippodrome, which runs this website in conjunction with Darlington for Culture, adheres to Darlington Borough Council’s web access policy and standards. We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience and work proactively to ensure that our website is accessible and usable by people of all abilities.
Our web access policy is aimed at improving access to the website for the following groups:
Sensory - those with any level of visual and/or hearing impairments
Mobility - those unable to use a mouse, similar pointing devices and/or standard keyboards
Cognitive - those unable to focus, concentrate or fully understand certain words
We aim to ensure that the content of Darlington Hippodrome's website conforms to best practice web and accessibility standards and guidelines published by the:
BS 8878 (this replaces PAS 78)
Equality Act 2010 (this replaces the Disability Discrimination Act)
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. We aim for AA (double-A) compliance.
